Copper Creek starts drilling Bonsai in B.C.
Drilling is now under way on Copper Creek Gold Corp.'s Bonsai gold and silver property in northwestern British Columbia. Drilling this year will target the downslope extension of mineralization encountered in hole BZ03-08 drilled by Heritage Explorations Inc. in 2003. Diamond drill hole BZ03-08 returned 64 metres of 0.38 gram per tonne (g/t) gold and 27 g/t silver encountered from 90 metres to 154 metres depth. The company plans to drill four BTW diameter diamond core drill holes for a total of 1,000 to 1,200 metres. Two holes will be drilled from each of two separate drill pads targeting mineralization at several lower depths to mineralization encountered in BZ03-08. The Bonsai property is adjacent and to the west of Barrick Gold Corp.'s Eskay Creek mine landholdings. This year's drilling is being conducted approximately 6,000 metres southwest of Barrick's Eskay Creek mine which for 14 years was Canada's highest grade gold mine. Copper Creek has engaged Elite Drilling of Vernon, B.C., to conduct this year's drill program.
Copper Creek is also pleased to announce the results from its recent soil sampling program at its Bonsai property. In addition to several smaller discrete anomalies, a multielement soil anomaly has been detected 200 metres upslope of this year’s drill target. The anomaly is approximately 400 metres long and approximately 100 metres wide. The interpreted anomaly is of coincident elevated gold, silver, lead, arsenic and mercury. The anomalous silver values are especially well defined. The orientation of the anomaly generally trends perpendicular to the mineralization that is currently being targeted in this season’s drill program. The company intends to conduct additional higher sample density soil grids to follow up on and further constrain the anomalies as well as further evaluate their significance in the off season.
The company anticipates having a better understanding of how these two areas of mineralization at Bonsai are related after this season’s drill program. The foregoing geological disclosure has been reviewed and verified by Kristian Whitehead, PGeo, a qualified person for the purpose of National Instrument 43-101, standards of disclosure for mineral projects.
