The Next President of the United States is Democrat Barack Obama
After nearly 2 years of campaigning, the United States has their new President-elect, Barack Obama. The Democratic candidate became the first African-American to be elected President of the United States.
With the economy as the central issue in the United States, voters turned out in droves for this historic US election. In the end, Republican John McCain waged an intense battle for the White House but ultimately could not convince voters he was the better man to turn around the floundering US economy. As of early Thursday morning, the electoral vote sat at 338 to 163 for Democratic candidate, Barak Obama. Mr. Obama only needed 270 electoral votes to secure the victory. There were still a handful of states not included in the tabulation, as the races in those states were still too close to call.
